MILL ROAD MURAL COMMUNITY PROJECT
While the Mosque was being built on Mill Road, Cambridge in 2014.The Mill Road Mural, funded by The Arts Council, was created to hide the eye sore of the building work. The theme was a celebration of the diversity of Mill Road and each of the 6 artists working on the project chose a local community group to run workshops with to generate artwork to use for the mural which looked at what Mill Road meant to each group. I ran a series of workshops with residents of Jimmys Nightshelter on the theme of spiritual journeys in Mill Road inspired by aborigional journeys. Each participant created their own personal logo as a prinitng block to mark the routes they frequented in Mill road and they then created symbols to represent signifcant places annd experiences for them in Mill road.
